The product sells itself when buyers can turn it in their hands.

A real-time 3D configurator for a manufacturer whose catalogue was a PDF. Customers now rotate the product, swap materials, price a configuration and send it to sales — in the browser, on a phone, without a plugin.

The problem

A catalogue cannot answer the only question buyers have.

"What will it look like in my configuration?" Every answer took a sales call, a render request and days of waiting — and each round of waiting is where deals cool.

Static imagery, dynamic product

A configurable product photographed in one finish. Every other combination existed only in a spec sheet.

Sales as a rendering service

The team spent its day producing visuals instead of closing — a cost that grew with every new material option.

No signal from interest

Nothing captured which combinations buyers actually wanted, so the roadmap was guesswork.

What we built

A configurator, not a viewer.

Rotation is the easy part. The work was making every choice a buyer makes flow into pricing, into sales and into the product roadmap.

01

Real-time 3D in the browser

Optimized geometry and materials that hold 60fps on a mid-range phone — no plugin, no app, no download gate.

02

Material & option engine

Finishes, components and dimensions defined as data — new options ship by editing a catalogue, not the codebase.

03

Configuration to quote

Every configuration is shareable and priced, and arrives in sales as a specification instead of a vague enquiry.

04

Demand telemetry

Which combinations get built, shared and abandoned — the roadmap now reads from behavior, not opinion.

How it was built

Blueprint first, as always.

Performance targets, the option data model and the sales handover were decided on paper before a single mesh was loaded — because in 3D, architecture mistakes surface as frame drops on the customer's phone.

01

Discovery

Option taxonomy, device performance budget, and the definition of a qualified configuration.

02

Asset pipeline

Production CAD reduced to web-ready geometry with a repeatable process the client's team runs itself.

03

Interface & brand

A configurator UI that reads as the product's brand, not as a CAD tool bolted onto a website.

04

Handoff

Repository, infrastructure keys, asset pipeline documentation and full IP — transferred, not licensed.

OutcomeIn production today

The sales conversation starts after the decision.

Buyers arrive having already built and priced what they want. Sales stops producing renders and starts confirming orders — and the platform is owned outright by the client.

Self-service configuration replaced the render request loop
Enquiries arrive as complete, priced specifications
New finishes and components ship without engineering time
Configuration data now informs what gets manufactured
